About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of Heart & Hands of East Texas, A Christian Job Corps Site, is to equip men and women with job skills and life skills in a Christ-centered environment.

What is Heart & Hands of East Texas?

We are a Christian Job Corps Site seeking to equip men and women with not only job readiness skills, but also through teaching the Word of God so they can become who God desires them to be.  We are committed to meeting the individual learning needs of each student to empower them to gain self-confidence, set positive life goals, and find hope for the future. In addition to job skills training, a key component of our program is Bible study and personal mentoring so that men and women can grow spiritually.

History

CJC is a nation-wide organization founded in 1994 by the Women's Missionary Union to address the needs of women living in poverty. They later added men to the program. Heart & Hands of East Texas began as CWJC Lindale, a satellite of CWJC Tyler, and became a certified site in 2016. In 2021 we changed our name to Heart & Hands of East Texas to reflect our desire to include all area communities as well as serving men through our ministry.

What We Offer

We offer a 12-week job-readiness program with experiences and skills development designed to prepare participants to compete in the job market. Our program includes the following components:

  • Bible study

  • Technology skills

  • Jobs skills

  • Resume writing

  • Interview skills

  • Personal mentoring

  • Personal employment coaching

Although we are a job-readiness program, many of our students attend because they need a community of support, increased self-confidence, or a deeper relationship with Christ.
